A Harmless Little Game By: Meli Raine

Genre: New Adult, Dark Romance, Suspense

Ratings: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Synopsis:

Four years ago I lost my virginity on live, streaming television.

Too bad I wasn’t awake for it.

The video went viral. Of course it would. A Senator’s daughter on camera? Wouldn’t you click “share”? Besides, that’s what three of the four guys in the video did.

Share.

They shared me.

But that fourth guy? The nondescript one in the background in the upper left corner of the screen, just sitting on the couch? The only one who did nothing?

Not one single thing.

That was my boyfriend, Drew.

And that was the last time I saw him.

Until today, when my father—now on a path to the White House—hired him as head of security for my new team as I return home after four years of “recovering” in an undisclosed location that involved white lab coats, needles, pills and damage control.

You see, the other three guys never went to jail. Never had charges pressed.

Never faced consequences.

Until today.

Game on.

My Opinions:

*4 Stars*
This book was so suspenseful which wasn't what I was expecting, I mean based on the synopsis I thought it was like a second chance romance where this person would come back to earn redemption for what he did. Meli Raine wrote such an amazing read that put me on my book during like 50% of this book.

Lindsay was a rape-victim who was cast away to an island for four years by her father in hope to heal her of what had happened, but in truth they were only putting her away so that they could fabricate a story and put all the blame on an innocent girl. I enjoy how Lindsay was portrayed as a strong and independent character seeking for revenge because of what those boys did to her. I also understood her anger toward Drew who was now in charge of her safety, but he deserved her ignorance because he could not protect her when she need him the most and when he was the only person who she could trust and believe in. However when leaving the mental institution that her father had placed her in for four years, she walked out and saw the one person who she didn't want to see the most, Drew . . .

Drew was a character that I hated the most at the beginning of the book, but I loved how through all the hatred that Lindsay has toward him, he was still able to protect her even when she found many opportunities to push him away. I really like that part in him which allowed him to stick by Lindsay's side no matter what happened. However, I hated Lindsay's friend, Tara, and her mother, Monica, the most because one person acts like she is the world and order other people around and one acts like a caring mother while in reality she is only there for the image and if Lindsay doesn't do what she say, she would yell, hit, and threaten Lindsay like what kind of mother would do that. The best part was when Lindsay got revenge on Tara and there was no evidence showing that she did it.

Thank you Meli Raine for such an amazing read. I am really hoping to continue read this series and go onto Drew's POV because I really want to know if he actually care about Lindsay.
