Synopsis:

BRIAR
I was infatuated with Asher Kelley the moment he came tumbling through my brother’s window five years ago.
Even bruised and bloodied, he was the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen.
We couldn't ever be together.
I was too young, and he was too untouchable.
He was too troubled, and I was too naive.
But the heart is rebellious, and mine decided it didn’t care about any of those things.
As I got older, harmless flirting turned to stolen moments in dark corners.
Until one day, he was gone without a trace.
Now, three years later, he’s back.
Callous and cruel.
He’s my brother’s best friend. My parents’ worst nightmare.
I should hate him.
But like a Bad Habit, I can’t quit him.

ASHER
I was drawn to Briar Vale from the first time she looked up at me with stars in her big, blue eyes.
She was just a kid, nothing but elbows and knees, but she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen.
We could never be together.
I was too old and she was too off limits.
She was too good and I was too fucked up.
Eventually, the temptation became too much to resist.
I risked everything for a kiss and she betrayed me.
Three years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she's all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she's always been my drug of choice.

My Opinions:

*5 Stars*
I've been seeing many people talking about the second book in this series so I thought that maybe I should start on the first book before reading the second and OMG I am so in love with this book cause I cannot put it down after reading it.

Briar Vale has lived in a privileged family and a brother that would protect her through everything. Ever since she was young, she has started hanging out with her brother and his friend, Asher, who she was attracted to since the first time they saw each other until one betrayal that made Asher leave for three years and that made Briar very sad and she was determined to forget about him. However, after three years of not seeing each other and on Briar's last day of junior year, Asher decided that it was the perfect time to show up. With the determination to move on for their past, Briar grew to be more independent, but still caring of the people around her. I love Briar's personality and her determination to stay away from Asher because he decided to left her three years ago without telling her which made her really depressed. I love the attraction between Briar and Asher even though three years has gone by.

Asher Kelley had laid eyes on Briar ever since the first time he saw her however, after a single mistake that forced him to leave her for three years where he thought that she was the person that made him leave his home to live with his abusive uncle until he met Dare, a friend that took him in after the events with his uncle. But now that he's back, he is determined to stay away from her however when he first saw her again at a party in the Tracks, he could not stay away from her any longer. From that moment on, he is determined to keep her as close to him as possible. I love Asher so much even though he is kind of obsessive and bossy with Briar but overall, he is also very protective of her when she is if one of her guy friends or when she almost got in danger. I don't know but I enjoy standalone however when I got to the end of the book I keep on wishing that there was more to the story.

Overall, this was the best read of the summer and I just have to place an order so that I can keep it and reread this book whenever I want.
