Eleanor & Park By: Rainbow Rowell

Release Date: February 26, 2013

Ratings: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Synopsis:

Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.

Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

My Opinions:

*4.5 Stars*
I was never one to read book with sad and depressing and this book is the reason why. I know that not everything has a happy ending, but I tend to think on the positive side when it comes to relationships. Rainbow Rowell is such an amazing author and I really hope I can continue reading more of her books.

Eleanor was an interesting character that came from a really horrible family (a step-father who cares for no one except himself, a mother who always listen to whatever her husband says, and siblings that try to do their best not to anger their step-father). I really connect with Eleanor through the detailed descriptions and the amazing writing. Her past and present life was really depressing to read about and I was brought on my toes every time her step-father was mention. She was a new girl at a new place and no one really care for until Park came along . . .

Park came from an Asian-American family which I really enjoy the diversity. When he first met Eleanor, he didn't like her at first however as time went on, she really grew on him and I love how he shared his comic and music with her which was really sweet. I also loved how he didn't really care what other people have to say about him when he is together with Eleanor and how he is really protective of her when she is hurt or laughed at by others. I love Parker's mother and father, they were so sweet to Eleanor when she came over to talk to them and work on homework with Park.

Overall, this was really an amazing read however it really was the book for me and it is a really good representation of reality of how everything does not always have a happy ending and how somewhere somehow there are probably people who are facing the same problem that Eleanor faced in this book.
