Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Mercedes Ayres has an open-door policy when it comes to her bedroom, but only if the guy fulfills a specific criteria: he has to be a virgin. Mercedes lets the boys get their awkward, fumbling first times over with, and all she asks in return is that they give their girlfriends the perfect first time- the kind Mercedes never had herself.

Keeping what goes on in her bedroom a secret has been easy- so far. Her absentee mother isn’t home nearly enough to know about Mercedes’ extracurricular activities, and her uber-religious best friend, Angela, won’t even say the word “sex” until she gets married. But Mercedes doesn’t bank on Angela’s boyfriend finding out about her services and wanting a turn- or on Zach, who likes her for who she is instead of what she can do in bed.

When Mercedes’ perfect system falls apart, she has to find a way to salvage her reputation and figure out where her heart really belongs in the process. Funny, smart, and true-to-life, FIRSTS is a one-of-a-kind young adult novel about growing up.

My Opinions:

*2.5 Stars*
Okay, I have got to say that this was one of the disappointing reads that I've had for 2018. I technically have to say I DNF this book because I literally scan through the last half of this book. Laurie Elizabeth Flynn is a really amazing author but I just really cannot connect with Mercedes and reading this book right after The Deal was really a letdown.

Mercedes Ayres wasn't really an annoying character but everything that she did with the other guys was irritating me like if she wanted to stop her deal of taking  boy's virginity then just stop. To be honest, what that she does really irritated me and if she doesn't want to lose someone when why can't she admit that she wanted him in her life instead of pushing him away. However, I really enjoy her when she was tutoring other kids about chemistry and working on experiment together with her lab partner. Her mother allow made me really angry because she did not care about Mercedes at all and would sometimes try to act all motherly like as if she really took care of Mercedes. If only she was honest since the beginning of the book with her friends and the people around her then everything would be fine. What will Mercedes do when she is about to lose the one thing that was important to her, Zach . . .

Zach, on the other hand, was a character that I really liked to read and if there was another book in his point-of-view then I would definitely pick it up. He was the one character that liked Mercedes for who she is and not her skills in bed. I loved how he would stick by her side no more what happens even when he is betrayed and hurt by what she did. Zach is like those good-looking, playboy type that I really like because when something serious comes up, he would put away that playboy of his and come to the aid of his friends.

Overall, this was a disappointing read for me and I would like it more if Mercedes admitted her wrongdoing and her feelings when she decided to stop her deal and that her mother would care about her more.
