Synopsis:
Lucy and Owen’s relationship plays out across the globe as they stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and—finally—a reunion in the city where they first met.
A carefully charted map of a long-distance relationship, Jennifer E. Smith’s new novel shows that the center of the world isn't necessarily a place. It can be a person, too.
My Opinions:
*4 Stars*This is my third Jennifer E. Smith's book and I would like to say that I am kind of tired of her two people from a different world trope because now in this story she is trying to bring together two people from totally different side of the world, however this story was still interesting to read.
Lucy lived in New York for almost all of her life and now being stuck in an elevator with a stranger is totally going to change her view of how the rest of her life will play out. I found it interesting how being stuck in an elevator with a stranger and then later traveling through a city full of darkness can allow two people from two different world to get along and learn about each other's life. Jennifer knows how to make a story go from romantic to angsty and frustrating because first they were happily talking to each other and the next thing you know, they would be separated.
Owen came from an unwealthy family and now he is living in a basement of a New York's apartment owned by his uncle until one day being stuck in an elevator with Lucy turns out to be the best moment of his life. Telling Lucy stories about him through the elevator situation and in the darkness of New York was something he never expected to do; however when fate took on another turn he has to decide if being together with Lucy is what he really wants or being the one person who can support his father.
